DR. VALENTIN RADU - ORGANIST AND CHOIRMASTER

Throughout his career, Romanian-born conductor Valentin Radu has led numerous orchestras and vocal groups in Europe and the United States. He is the founder of VoxAmaDeus, now in its 39th season, and throughout that period has conducted programs of Renaissance, Baroque, Classical and Symphonic Jazz genres. Maestro Radu's specialty is authentic historical performance style, emphasizing original context, including use of period-specific instruments and vocal techniques, infused with passionate interpretation and bountiful driving energy.  Maestro Radu began his music studies at the age of four. At age six he made his concert debut as piano recitalist at the Bucharest Philharmonic Hall, and at age nine, he made his debut as concert soloist with the Bucharest Philharmonic Orchestra. Maestro Radu holds both Doctorate and Master of Musical Arts degrees from the Juilliard School and a Bachelor of Music degree from the Bucharest Academy of Music.  In 1976, he founded and conducted the Juvenes Musici chamber orchestra (under the auspices of the Bucharest Philharmonic). In 1980 he founded The Juilliard Bach Players chamber orchestra and the Bach at Juilliard concert series at New York's Lincoln Center. His credits include winner of the prestigious Rome International Piano Competition in 1973, Saarbrucken Organ Competition (W. Germany) in 1979, the Silver Medal at the Bach International Competition in Leipzig (East Germany) in 1980, and the Golden Apple awarded in 1997 by New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani.  In 1998, Maestro Radu conducted the 107-member Bucharest Philharmonic in its Gershwin Centennial Gala, and in 1999 he was honored as Musician of the Year by the Romanian Music Critics' Association. That same year he was invited to participate at the historic visit to Romania of Pope John Paul II (now Saint). In April 2003, Maestro Radu was bestowed the title of Honorary Citizen of the City of Bucharest. In 2005, Radu was knighted and received the prestigious title of Grand Officer of the Order of Legion of Honor by the President of Romania. In 2008, the Maestro was invited to perform at a private reception for former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev (when he came to Philadelphia to receive the Liberty Medal).  

In addition to his busy performing and conducting schedule, Dr. Radu served as music director and faculty member of Devon Preparatory School from 1995 to 2016, as well as Fine Arts Department chair from 2001 to 2016, and currently serves as organist and choirmaster at All Saints' Church in Wynnewood, PA. In addition, he regularly appears in Europe as solo organ recitalist and guest conductor with the Bucharest Philharmonic and the Sound Jazz Group (in Romania), as well as at major summer music festivals throughout Western Europe. MRS. JINHEE MCAVOY - PARISH SECRETARY

Jinhee McAvoy was born and raised in South Korea, the youngest of three girls in a military family. She frequently moved within and outside Korea, gaining exposure to different cultures from an early age, including those in India, Romania, England, China, and America. After graduating with degrees in Psychology and Social Work from Ewha Women's University, she earned her Master's in Christian Counseling. She worked as a mental health counselor in Korea for over seven years, providing evaluations and counseling through various non-profit organizations. She met her husband, Nick from the Philly area, in an international church in Seoul. Since 2019, they have lived in West Philadelphia, attending an Anglican Church in Phoenixville with their daughter Brigid, who loves to play the role of “secretary’s secretary”  

 




MR. TIMOTHY BROUSSARD - SEXTON & VERGER

Timothy Broussard grew up in Portland, Oregon, attended Westminster Seminary in Philadelphia, then moved home for a few years before returning to Philadelphia to become All Saints’ sexton in 2023. He also comes to All Saints’ from a denominational pilgrimage; raised a Baptist, he became a Presbyterian in College, and an Anglican after finishing seminary. He is thankful to the church for giving him a home while he considers ordination somewhere in the Anglican world.

 

mS. BARBARA DEMCHICK - BOOK KEEPER

Barb Demchick was born and raised in Philadelphia, where she also went to college. She moved to the Main Line in 2003 when she married a Lutheran minister. Following her husband's passing in 2017, Barb continued to stay in the area. An accountant by training, Barb held many different positions over her 40-year career, including owning a consulting business where she managed back-office functions—such as accounting, insurance, and human resources. Her clients included both for-profit companies and nonprofit organizations. After retiring in 2024, Barb needed a "challenging hobby" and joined the Church as our bookkeeper in 2025. Besides spending her retirement working at the Church she enjoys pickleball, mahjong and traveling with her new life partner, Dan.
